November 5, 1955 – February 6, 2024

Dorlinda Maria Valdez, of El Duende, NM, was called by our Lord on February 6, 2024, surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Dorlinda is preceded in death by paternal grandparents Onesimo and Maria Inez Ortega, maternal grandparents Antonio and Tomasita Atencio, parents Sebedello and Tomasita Ortega, son James A. Sanchez, sister Annette Gonzales, nephews Gilbert O. Gonzales, Peter Sanchez, Steven Quintana III, and father-in-law Tomas A. Velasquez.

Dorlinda is survived by her husband Jose Eusequio “Juice” Valdez; sons Adrian Sanchez (Tanya), Eusequio II, Nickolas, Ernesto, and Gilbert Valdez; daughters Delilah, Jeanelle (Jonathon), Annette, Larissa (Junior); grandson raised as their own Andrew Bachicha; sisters Nora Gurule (Tommy), Geraldine Carmona (Rustico), Antonette Quintana, and Christine Ortega; brother Onesimo Ortega (Roberta); mother-in-law, Rosalia Velasquez; brothers-in-law Wayne (Geri) and Toby; (Jenna), Tommy (Dolores), Gabe (Lucinda)Velaquez, sister in-laws, Joyce Velaquez (Harold), Margie Roybal (Orlando). grandchildren Desiree Baca (Erick), Avamarie and Aaron Sanchez, Jaylene and Haylie Baca, Eusequio III, Amara, Elijah, and Ezra Valdez, Zayden Aguilar, Kaine Gurule and Brooklyn Mondragon; great-grandchildren Derick and Dominick Baca; special cousins Jimmy Esquibel and Edna Salazar, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, family, and friends who loved her dearly.

The family would like to thank the staff at Christus St. Vincent and Presbyterian Hospitals, Nexus Health, Giving Home Health Care, and Legacy Home Health Care. Special thanks to Jeanelle and Larissa Valdez for tending to the needs of Dorlinda during her battle. 

A Public Visitation will be at 5:00 pm, with a Wake Service to follow at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. 

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, a Public Visitation will be at 5:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.   

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm at San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez, NM, with burial to follow at the San Jose Cemetery in Hernandez, NM.

Serving the family as Pallbearers are Miguel Carmona, Eric Vigil, Jerome Quintana, Gabriel Gallegos, Elias Martinez and Tomas Ortega.

Honorary pall bearers are her 16 nephews and nieces, and 23 great nephews and nieces.
