Donald Vigil Sr., member of the Nambe Pueblo passed away peacefully in his home September 18, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family and friends.
Donald Vigil served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. After serving in the Army Donald worked as a BIA Police Officer and Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Deputy. He then went to work for the Pueblo of Pojoaque and retired as an Investigator with the Gaming Commission.
Donald Vigil was preceded in death by his parents Jose Leandro and Grace Vigil; brother Juan Vigil; and special nephew Gunny Vigil.
Donald is survived by his son Donald Vigil Jr. (Michelle); Stephanie Vigil-Law, Monique Baca (Julian), Jolene Vigil (Craig), Elizabeth Vigil; grandkids Joseph and Germaine Vigil, Aaron Vigil, Taylor Trujillo, Jordan and Kira Baca; brothers Joe Vigil (Veronica), Wayne Vigil Sr., Art Vigil, Sisters Terry Sanders (Lloyd) and Rose Campbell; Godchildren Wayne Vigil (Bernadette) and Crystal Vigil-Chavez (Bryan). Donald is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to RoadRunner Hospice, Nambe Pueblo, the Pueblo of Pojoaque, DeVargas Funeral Home, all the family and friends for all their support through this difficult time.

Rosary: 9:30 am at the Nambe Pueblo Church
Burial: 11:30 am at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Lunch will be served following burial at the Pueblo of Pojoaque Cities of Gold Ball Room.
Serving as Pallbearers are: Donald Vigil, Joseph Vigil, Wayne Vigil, Randy Vigil, John Vigil and Craig Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are: Aaron Vigil and Johnathan Vigil.
