Rev. Dennis Heffner

On July 12, 2015, Rev. Dennis Heffner was called to heaven to raft the mighty waves and climb the high mountains. He was born in Baltimore, Ohio on October 13, 1947 to Virgil and Erladean Heffner and grew up on a small farm. He was a graduate of Otterbein College and United Theological Seminary and completed his Doctor of Ministry at McCormick Theological. He spent his life as a United Methodist Pastor serving 36 years at the Valley View United Methodist Church. He was the founder and longtime director of Amigos del Valle. He enjoyed white water rafting, hiking Pedernal and candle making. Mr. Heffner is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dee Dee Heffner; children, Todd Heffner and wife Angela, Heidi Chavez, and Andrew Heffner; grandsons, Nathaniel, Hayden and Gavin Heffner and Liam Chavez; sisters, Tina Rogers and husband Ron and Marilyn Oravec and numerous other relatives and friends. A prayer service will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Valley View United Methodist Church in Española. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Valley View United Methodist Church in Española. In lieu of flowers please send gifts to Amigos del Valle, Valley View United Methodist Church and McCurdy Ministries. The family of Rev. Dennis Heffner has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
