Dennis Barela, 34, a resident of Chimayo, NM, passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2026. 

Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing, lowrider events, family gatherings and attending his daughters’ sporting & school events he loved being a dad. 

Dennis was preceded in death by his father Ricky Barela Sr, mother Darlene Barela; oldest brother Juan Lopez (Player); paternal great grandparents Filadelfio and Felipita Barela; paternal grandparents Gilbert and Mary D.J Barela; maternal grandparents Hilario and Ophelia Padilla; aunts Eloisa Padilla and Nora Salazar; uncles Dennis, Louie and Pencho Barela, Jimmy Villanueva, Mike, Juan, Jerry and Julian Padilla; cousins Armando & Lino Quintana, Mary, Isaac (Little Pooh), Felisha and Norma Barela. 

Dennis is survived by his only brother Ricky Junior Barela (Vanessa), mother of his children Santana Martinez; daughters Amy Martinez, Hailey, Ashlynn and Izariah Barela; uncles, Miguel Medina, Felix (Michelle), Ted (Clarissa) & Isaac Barela; aunts, Christine (Daniel) & Irene Barela; niece and nephew; Harmony and Juanito Lopez and many loving cousins, other relatives and friends.

Serving as Pallbearers are Xavier and Leroy Atencio, Felix (Gordo) Barela, Alfredo Aguilar, Daniella and Denise (Barbie) Barela. 

Honorary Pallbearers are Randy, Jacob and Ronald Martinez, Louisa Aguilar, Miguel Medina, Jesse Moya, Raquel Coronado and Elias Calzadillas.
