David Gurule

March 7th, 2006 – July 16th, 2026

David Gurule, age 20, of La Puebla, NM, passed away on July 16, 2026. He was born to Leonard and Marcella Gurule of La Puebla NM.

David was a graduate of Espanola Valley High School. He was known for his daily walks to the local park where he enjoyed to play basketball. David grew up to love everything about vehicles, especially when it came to taking care of his own rides. He worked as a delivery driver and enjoyed carpentry.

David was known for his smile and his kindness towards everyone around him. But was best known for always being with his baby sister Angel. They would go to the movies, shopping, and cruising. They were always together and took care of one another. He loved spending time with his family and friends, his love for them will never be forgotten.

David was preceded in death by his brother Leonard Jr Gurule; his grandparents Ben and Concha Montoya, Grandpa Leo Gurule; great-grandfathers Evaristo Gurule and Fidel Martinez; uncle’s David “Spunky” Montoya, Jeffery “Cito” Brown, Benjie Montoya; great uncle Eppie Martinez; and his cousin, to whom he was close to, Joshua Montoya.

He is survived by his parents; brother Nicholas (Ashlynn); sister Angel; grandma Fidelia Gurule and his God Parents Yolanda Montoya and Joseph Jr. Manzanares; as well as numerous family members and friends.

A Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, with a Rosary to follow after the viewing.

A Mass will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Holy Family Church in Chimayo, NM, with the burial to follow.

Serving as Pallbearers are; Nicholas Gurule, Joseph, Jr., Manzanares, Angel Gurule, Maraiah Archuleta, Raymond and Jose.
