David J. Marquez was accepted into his Eternal Father's presence on Saturday, September 12, 2026. He had family at his bedside when he made the final transition, after a period of declining health. He was born in Artesia, NM to parents Joe P. Marquez and Belen Granado Marquez. The family moved from Artesia, NM when David was a child. He worked alongside his dad, Marquez & Son Concrete Finishing, until 2013, primarily working in Los Alamos and White Rock.

David was a kind and generous man, loving to all he met. He especially loved his two daughters Randi Marquez, and Adrianne Castillo (Jose). He had three grandchildren: Corrine Lopez (Tyler), Jose Castillo, and Jason Castillo. His favorite pastime was fishing, of which he had only fond memories as he grew more frail.

David was preceded in death by his father, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

David is survived by his mother Belen of Española, sisters Dora Marquez, of Santa Fe, and Diana Maqallanez (Henry) of Mesquite, NM; his daughters, and grandchildren, all of Española; nieces and nephews, Marisa and Anton Magallanez, Kayla Marquez Cimino and Ian Lujan and one great-nephew, Maxson; a beloved uncle, three aunts and many primos; and his dear friends, Barley and Margaret. 

David's family is grateful for the time that we were blessed to have him in our lives--we miss him dearly. We treasure the time spent with him and the insights of life--aha moments--that he shared.
