DARLENE CARTER , 80, a resident of Española, was welcomed into the Savior’s arms on December 3, 2019 while surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred (FA) and Alois Norris. She is survived by her siblings, Linda and Gary Tousand, Terry and Diane Norris, Larry and Connie Norris and her aunt and pal, Mary Lou Cell; children, David and Gretchen Carter, Brian and Sherry Clark, Belinda Tafoya, Nolan and Anita Carter, Monica and Roger Romero and her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Keith Carter as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews who have been so helpful and thoughtful over the years. Darlene lived her life for her family, her church family, her friends and her Savior and Lord. This is attested to by many phone calls and visits that she would receive from people daily. Even while home-bound she was constantly checking up on her friends and family in need. From the many kind acts that were constantly being done for her these many years, it is obvious that the impact she made on others as a compassionate, empathetic encourager was significant and appreciated. An impact that will never be fully realized this side of Heaven. Darlene was a devout prayer warrior and it cannot be doubted that her intercession for so many has had a great impact on peoples lives. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 913 La Joya Street in Española. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Michael Tafoya, Tony Tafoya, Jonathan Carter, Rachel Carter, Mario Tafoya, Maegan Carter, Autumn Carter, Evan Carter, Beliah Ortiz, Jordan Ortiz, Roger (RJ) Romero, Jr, and Adrian Romero. The family of Darlene Carter has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
