Clara G. - Age 81 - Española - Salazar

CLARA G. SALAZAR, 81, Our Precious mother was called home to be with the Lord and her husband, Esequiel “Zeke” Salazar and her grandson Benito Garcia on Friday, April 22, 2011. Clara was a member of the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Parish. She was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Guadalupana and a member of the Holy Family Society. Clara was also a member of ARMA-NNMC and presided as their President for several years while employed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. She retired from the Lab where she worked as a records analyst for almost 50 years. She was recognized in several publications for her knowledge and expertise in archives research for the DOE Complex. Our mother loved to work in her garden tending to her flowers and planting vegetables for her family. She also enjoyed cooking and baking and was proud of raising and making the best red chili. She provided a loving home for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a kind and compassionate gentle soul. The entire family will miss her soothing and comforting presence. Mrs. Salazar is survived by her children, Charlotte Garcia and husband Ben, Steven and wife Cathy, Victor and wife Stephanie, Edward and wife Mary Alice and Vincent and wife Carolyn; grandchildren: Juan Carlo and fiancé Rachel, Angelina, Steve and wife Danya, Carolyn and husband Will, Mario and fiancé Jesusita, Andrea and husband Robert, Monica and husband Scott, Christina, Stephanie, Vicente and fiancé Courtney, David and Raquel; great-grandchildren: Alisha, Amber, Elijah, Brittney, Matthew, Kaden, Myah, Alyssa, Ryan, Ava, Taylyn and Devin; her brother, Joe Gonzales and wife Tillie; sisters-in-law: Ramona Gonzales and Daphna Gonzales; caregivers: Raquel and Mayra De La Riva and Veronica Leyva and many other loving relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque with burial to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her memory to The Benito Garcia Memorial Scholarship Foundation at Zia Credit Union. The family of Clara G. Salazar has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
