Christopher Abeyta

March 6, 2024

It is with great sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher Abeyta (Chris), at the young age of 27, with his loving family by his side.  Christopher was the youngest of all his siblings.  He was born on January 28, 1997, to his late father Wences Abeyta and his Mother Martha Abeyta.

Chris grew up in the small community of Chili, New Mexico.  He attended and graduated from Victory Faith Christian Academy in Espanola, New Mexico.  Shortly after he graduated from High School he moved to El Paso, Texas where he attended El Paso Community College.  In 2019, Chris returned to his family home in Chili, to be close to those he loved most.  Much like his late father, Chris was a very hard worker, who loved the outdoors.  He had a deep desire to one day be the owner of his own landscaping business.  He worked hard around the yard making sure it looked immaculate and he did the same for many neighbors and friends in the community.  This was his time to meditate on the Lord and pray to Him.  He had dreams to become someone that we would all be proud of, and we were; his yard work was a work of art.  Although he is gone from this earth, we know in our hearts that he was not defeated and his trajectory changed toward increasing.   For Christ’s likeness remains steadfast until death and he is now resting in the arms of our dear Lord and savior. “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” – Romans 5:3-5

For those of us that knew him, he was a smart, talented, and loving soul. He was always kind to everyone he met and made many friends along the way.  His witty sense of humor, his sympathy and compassion to everyone in his life including strangers, and his willingness to help others will never be forgotten.

Chris was preceded in death by his father Wences Abeyta, his brother’s; Rudy Abeyta and Jesus Rascon, and his maternal grandmother Adelina Perez (Mexico).  He is survived by his Mother Martha Abeyta and partner Billy Mojica, sisters; Perla Rascon (Luis) of Los Alamos, NM; Emily Archuleta (Alfonso), of Albuquerque, NM; Evette Abeyta of Chili, NM; Sharon Moya (Jeff) of La Puebla, NM, his brothers; Vences Abeyta, Jr. (Jeanell) of Chimayo, NM; James Abeyta (Rebecca) of La Puebla, NM; Walt Abeyta (Almi) of Boston, MA; many nephews and nieces, some of which he was very close with Isaac, Jackie, Rodrigo, Jr. and Kimberly; aunts, Licha Nevarez (Reymundo), Sara Quintana (Manuel), Mary Gonzales (Pepe), Gladis Quintana (Hector), Carmen Perez (Chava) and uncle, Fernando Hernandez (Carmen). Many other friends and relatives, that he loved.

The family of Christopher would like to extend our sincere gratitude to staff at Vista Taos Renewal Center.  To Priscilla Perea and Amanda Abeyta, who were there to assist Chris in his journey.   Also, to the many friends and family that kept Chris in constant close prayer.  Your help did not go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.

A Devotional Service will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Victory Faith  Church in Espanola, NM.

The family of Christopher has entrusted his care to DeVargas Funeral Home of the beautiful Espanola Valley.   Many thanks to their amazing staff.    www.devargasfuneral.com   505-747-7477
