Christino
Martinez
d. Mar 21, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Christino J. Martinez, 38, of Ensenada, New Mexico. After having been missing since March 2024, Christino was recently found deceased.
Though shy and quiet by nature, Christino possessed a warm heart and gentle spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be remembered for his trademark smile, kindness, unwavering love for his family, and the many cherished memories he leaves behind.
Christino was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jake Martinez (Bea),Ignacita L. Aguirre (Benito), Vidal and Rose Martinez; brother, Chris Martinez; sisters, Deserae Hernandez and Stephanie Padilla; uncles, Benino, Robert, Paul, Jerry, Matthew, and Freddy Martinez; aunt, Barbara Martinez.
As a child, Christino was truly a mama’s boy who brought great joy to those around him. He attended Tierra Amarilla Elementary School, where many remember him as a quiet, respectful, and kind young boy. He later attended Escalante High School and Española Valley High School before earning his diploma through Albuquerque Job Corps.
In 2007, Christino proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dedication, a true hero. During his military service, he was stationed in Fort Worth, New Orleans, and Florida. Following his service, he attended Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in Albuquerque where he continued to study the electrician and construction trades.
Although his time in the Navy allowed him to travel and he spent several years living in Albuquerque, Christino always found his way back to “The Ranch” in Ensenada; the place he loved most and proudly called home. He worked in construction and was known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and pride in every task he completed.
Christino found joy in the outdoors and treasured the beauty of northern New Mexico. Among his favorite pastimes were swimming and hiking to “El Choro” and “The Cross,” places he had loved since childhood. He found peace in nature and happiness in the simple beauty of the land he called home.
Christino’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family and friends. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on through the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the countless moments that will forever be treasured by those who knew him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Chris and Laverne Martinez; his sisters, Suzzette (Juan) and Heather (Kat); his nephews, Jerod, Chris, Joziyah, Egypt, Phoenix, Nathaniel, and Josiah; his nieces, Lourdes, Jesusita, Nevaeh, Miranda, Angelica, Jazzmyn, and Nameria; his great-niece, Stephanie; his uncles, Eddie and Steven; his aunts, Gloria, Pauline (Ralph), Roseann (Larry), Frieda, Fatima, and Valorie; his brother-in-law, Jesus; as well as numerous cousins and countless friends, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Christino will be eternally loved, deeply missed, and forever remembered.
