Chris Martinez Sr.

Cristobal “Chris” I. Martinez Sr. “BIG I”, 78 years of age from Chimayo, NM passed away peacefully on Saturday January 22, 2022. Chris entered this world on May 22nd, 1943, born to Estevan and Celestina. Chris was proceded in death by his father, Estevan Martinez; mother, Celestina Pacheco, and stepfather, Antonio Pacheco, grandfather whom he was raised by, Bonifacio, in laws Gabriel and Benina Deaguero, grandson Baby William Vigil, brothers, Archie Martinez, Tony Pacheco, sister Genara Chavez, sister-in-law Bernie Garcia, and nephews Martin and Delfido Garcia, Filbert Deguero.

Chris was a member of the Knights of Columbus since 2001 and served as a Volunteer Fire Fighter for Chimayo and Santa Fe which he served passionately; He was a member of The Holy Family Church in Chimayo. he was also a member of the Nuestra Senora de Coro of Chimayo. Chris was employed by Los Alamos County for 28 ½ years. Chris loved to spend time with his family especially his wife Erlinda (His Honey); children and grandchildren/great-grandchildren. Chris will be remembered as an Amazing Husband, Father, and Grandpa, Chris was an amazing role model to his family and his kindness and generosity will be missed dearly.

Chris is survived by his wife Erlinda; children Bonnie (Kent); Jackie (Daniel); Chris Jr. (Anna); and Marsha. Grandchildren, Miranda (Tones); Steven Jr. (Christina); Kassandra; Chris III “CJ”; Marcos (Mariah); Gabrielle (Michael), great-grandchildren Steven III “AJ”; Matthew Ray; Emma; Aubrie; Haizley; Michael Jr. “MJ”; and Anthony Jr. “TJ”, like a sister Augustina, brothers-in-law. Archie (JoAnne); Abel; and Seferino, Sister-in-Law Judy, God Children:  Miranda, Steven Jr. Audrey, Joe, and Xavier. Favorite nieces Annette; Darlene; and Brenda, favorite nephew Angelino, close cousin Milfred, as well as numerous nephews, and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks are mandatory, there will be no condolence line, and only 75 people will be allowed in the building.

Services for Chris will be on Friday February 4, 2022 at 10:00am at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with burial to follow at Nuestra de Dolores Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Miranda, Steven Jr., Kassandra, Chris III “CJ”; Marcos, Gabrielle, Steven III “AJ”, Matthew Ray, Emma, Aubrie, Haizley, Michael Jr.” MJ”, and Anthony Jr. “TJ”
