Charlotte M. Velasquez, 85, a resident of White Rock passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on the morning of Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Charlotte was born in Chamita, New Mexico to Felipe and Julianita Maestas. She met and dated her husband Lucas during the late 40’s after WWII. They settled in Los Alamos and began their family. Charlotte waitressed at the Historical Fuller Lodge, the Los Alamos Inn and at Philomena’s. Everyone loved her kind ways and giving spirit. She will be dearly missed. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas; son, Ronnie; parents, Felipe and Julianita Maestas; brothers: Henry and Benito Maestas. She is survived by her children: Sandra McDaid of White Rock, Leni Smith and husband David of Los Alamos, Alex Velasquez and wife Marquita of Arroyo Seco, Carla Rambeau and husband Don of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren: Ken, Felicia, Elaina and Amanda Leibee, Miguel and Leanna Velasquez, Sean McDaid, Anna Liberti, Victoria Hill, Justin and Danielle Rambeau; 14 beautiful great-grandchildren; brother/sisters: Santiago Maestas and wife Eufemia, Elvira Giezentanner, Polly Tainter, Johnny Maestas and wife Mercy, Theresa Espinoza; numerous nephews & nieces. Public visitation will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to follow at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with interment to take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. The family of Charlotte M.
