Charles (Charlie) Atencio

CHARLES JAMES ATENCIO (CHARLIE) , a resident of Chamita, born to Abelino and Florinda Atencio on July 26, 1958, went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 30, 2021 after a lengthy illness 4 days after turning 63. Before his illness Charlie worked for Blue Sky Builders as a carpenter. Charlie was preceded in death by his dad, Abelino Atencio; nephew, Marcos Atencio; paternal grandparents, Antonio and Tomasita Atencio; maternal grandparents, Mariano and Adelida Cordova. Charlie is survived by his only son, Carlos Moises Atencio (Melissa); grandson, Carlos Atencio Jr., granddaughter, Carleigh Atencio; caretaker and mother of his son Jenny Vigil; mother, Florinda Atencio; sisters, Marcella Atencio, Rebecca Atencio-Flores (Fred); brothers, Fabian and Ronald Atencio; nieces and nephews, Jermaine Martinez (James), Fabian Jr. (Melissa), Chris, Billie, Colynn and Ronald Jr; 4 great nieces and 5 great nephews; Tio Tony and Tia Lourdes Atencio; Tia Susie Atencio and Tia Ursula Cordova; Godchildren, Angelique Rodriguez, Ashley Vigil, LeeAnn Vigil, Robert Lopez, Angelo Atencio and several other relatives and friends. A rosary will be held on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a burial to follow at the Cundiyo Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Carlos Atencio, James Martinez, Fabian Atencio Jr. George Diaz, Ronald Atencio Jr. and Terrell Smith honorary pallbearers are his grandkids, remaining nieces, nephews, Fred Flores, Richard Atencio and his Godchildren.
