Celina Rivera

April 17, 1923 – March 27, 2023

Celina Rivera, a longtime resident of Nambe, NM, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2023. 

She is preceded in death by her husband Benjamin Rivera; sons Toby Rivera and Rudy Rivera; parents, Jose and Beatrice Vigil.

She is survived by her sons Gilbert Rivera and wife Elizabeth, Joe Rivera, Richard Rivera and wife Martha all of Nambe, NM, Benny Rivera and wife Gloria of La Villita, NM;  daughter Judy Hamilton and husband Greg of Nambe, NM; Granddaughters and Grandsons Laura, Cynthia, Jessica, Alexandra, Gregory, Benjamin, Richard, Ben, William; Great Granddaughters and Great Grandsons Angelica, Averi, Alanah, Brielle, Elia, Andrew, Isaiah, Sean, Mason, Link, Milo, Adam and Brian and many nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Celina was full of laughter and joy. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  She touched the lives of so many people across multiple generations.  During her time with us, she made a point to always help anyone with whatever she could. She met her husband in Nambe and married in 1946, after working in her early years at Los Alamos.  She then started her family and stayed home as a housewife and mother. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children.  During her younger days, she loved to entertain and spend time with many wonderful friends.  She loved to laugh, share her knowledge and wisdom with many. Most of all she loved her family with all her heart.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Visitation will begin on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 5:00 pm and Rosary commencing at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola NM.  Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, NM.  Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearer’s are Laura Garcia, Cynthia Rivera, Rick Rivera, Andrew Rivera, Alexandra Hamilton and Gregory Hamilton.
