Celeste - Age 97 - Velarde - Romero

Celeste Valdez Romero, 97, a resident of Velarde, NM born in Tusas, NM, 1913, passed away while she slept on Monday, April 25, 2011. Celeste was an Elementary School teacher in Northern NM, wife, rancher, quilter & herbal healer. She received her Master’s Degree from Highlands University. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Onofre Valdez and Francisquita Roybal; husband, Arturo Romero; son: William Valdez, and siblings. She is survived by Consuelo Torrez Valdez; sons: Richard and Carlos Valdez, Jenny and Lori Whitebear; grandchildren: Angelina, Damien, Marty, Mario nd Vicente Valdez; great-grandchildren, Camille and Sabastian, Madison, Mario and Vicente Jr. Memorial service will be held on Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with burial to follow at Loma Vista Cemetery. The Family of Celeste Valdez Romero have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
