Celedonia Maria Trujillo

Celedonia (Sally) Maria Trujillo age 96 a resident of Abiquiu, N.M. passed away peacefully on January 19, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Celedonia was an excellent daughter, caring for her parents, a loving wife, an exceptional mother, grandma, sister and aunt. She enjoyed being with the community, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Silviano and Soledad Martinez of Medanales, husband Luis Trujillo, son Jerry Patrick Trujillo, brothers Manuel Martinez, Presciliano Martinez and Antonio Martinez.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Alex and Estella Trujillo, grandson Alex Adam, granddaughter Serena Trujillo, sister Jenny Baca, brother Silviano (Merlene) Martinez, niece Sharon (Dennis) Martinez whom she thought of as a daughter, and many other relatives.

Celedonia was a pillar in the community. She worked as a cook at the Parochial School for many years. She helped out in the community whenever needed. When called to serve as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas and Medanales she did not wavier. A member of the Sagrada Familia in Abiquiu. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, taking care of her flower beds and so much more.

In her last days, Celedonia was ready to go home as she frequently verbalized “my daddy and mama will give you a lot of money if you take me home.” On January 19, as she transitioned into the next life, she reached out her arms several times as if to acknowledge being received with open arms. She was devoted to the holy rosary, by reciting it throughout day and some of the sleepless nights. A rosary always tucked under her pillow.     

She leaves us with love, pleasant memories that will keep her spirt alive in us.

The Holy Rosary will be at 12 P.M., Funeral Mass at 1 P.M. at the St. Thomas Church in Abiquiu, NM on Friday, January 27, 2023. Burial will follow at San Antonio Cemetery in Medanales.

Serving as pallbearers: grandson Alex Adam Trujillo, and nephews Leo Baca, Paul Edwin Baca, James Barela, Benjie Martinez and Emanuel Martinez.

A special thanks to Sharon Martinez for demonstrating love and care by her frequent visits, staying close to her and communicating with the family.
