Catalina "Kate" Age - 91 Chamisal Vasquez

Catalina “Kate” Vasquez, 91, a resident of Chamisal, NM went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2011. She was always known as Gramma Kate. She loved making quilts, sewing and cooking. Mrs. Vasquez always made sure everybody who visited her had a good meal. She loved her flowers (Las Baras de San José) and was always faithful going to church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cipriano and Felisita Dominguez; children: Betty and Ruben Vigil; grandchildren: Geraldo Pacheco, Allen Pacheco, Marvin Gurule, Fred Lopez and Natalie Vasquez; brothers/sister: Juan José, Salomon, Candido, Benjamin, Fernando, Procopio, Onesima. Mrs. Vasquez is survived by her children: Katherine Pacheco and husband Gilbert of Denver, CO; Cipriano Vigil and wife Susana of El Rito, Ruben Vigil and wife Theresa of Albuquerque, Judy Vigil and husband Tony of Grants, Ennemias Vasquez and wife Enselma of Chamisal, Juan Vasquez and wife Josie of Tierra Azul and Reyna Gurule and husband Robert of Rio Lucio; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild. Public visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Peñasco Community Center with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Peñasco Community Center with burial to follow at Chamisal Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Duane Pacheco, Cipriano Jr., Sam and Betty Vigil, Jeremiah and Sharon Vasquez and Roberta Gurule; honorary pallbearers: Felisita and Amanda Vigil, Amy Gurule, Ruben Vigil Jr., Ivan and Rebekah Vigil, Dawn Romero, Nehemiah Vasquez, Louie Tafoya and Simon Vasquez.
