Carmelita Jacquez, age 99, was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones.

Carmelita was born June 14, 1922, in Gallina, NM to Ambrosio and Leocadia Gonzales. She was preceded in death by both her parents, her husband Ricardo Jacquez, son Solomon Martinez, grandsons Herman Jacquez Jr., and Alvin Jacquez Jr., sister Dorothy Jacquez, brothers George Gonzales, Toby Gonzales, and Gilbert Gonzales.

She leaves behind her beloved family. Carmelita is survived by her sons Herman and wife Pauline Jacquez of Gallina, NM, Alvin Jacquez and partner Sonia Rodriguez of Gallina, NM. Grandsons Jeffery and Ricardo Jacquez of Gallina, Benito Martinez and wife of Rio Rancho, Joseph Martinez and wife of Texas. Grandaughters Joyce and husband Nick Morphin of Gallina, Julie Valdez and partner Pedro Rodriguez of Gallina, Kathryn and husband Emmanuel Gutierrez of Peralta, Jaylenne Jacquez of Gallina and beloved great-grandaughter Ocean Morfin also of Gallina, as well as several great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

The Jacquez would like to extend their gratitude to the Road Runner Hospice nurses. Thank you for all your help and support during these difficult times.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jeffery Jacquez, Ricardo Jaquez, Dean Valdez Jr., Archie Maestas, Pedro Rodriguez, and Miguel Rodriguez.

Viewing and Rosary will take place on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at DeVargas Funeral Home. Internment will follow at a family plot in Gallina, New Mexico.
