CARMELITA V. ROMERO, 90, a resident of Cordova, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carpio Romero; daughter, Arabella Martinez; sons, Tobias and Bobby Romero; parents, Pedro and Petronilla Vigil; grandsons, Marc Romero, Ronnie and Johnny Martinez, David Romero, Toby Romero and Angelo Lopez; brothers and sisters, Rosinia Martinez, Rebecca, Roberto, Bertha, Emelinda, Elviria and Floy Vigil. Carmelita was a weaver for Ortega’s Weaving Shop. She was a great cook and loved planting flowers and vegetables. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was very family oriented. She read the Bible daily and was a very devoted Christian woman. She made everybody feel like they were her favorite. Mrs. Romero is survived by her children, Severiano Romero and wife Nelda of Española, Ricky Romero and wife Debra of Truchas, Barney Romero and wife Vivian of Ojo Sarco, Rodney Romero and companion Amy Chavez of Cordova, Edna Dominguez of Española and Janet Lopez and husband Eddie of Española; sisters, Stella Roybal, Bennina Trujillo, Floy Drake, Florence Lesperence, and Susie Herrera and brother, Carlos Vigil; grandchildren, Margaret Lopez who was like a daughter and her husband Gerald of La Mesilla, Dora and husband Ernie, Cindy and husband Eddie, Lisa and husband Benny, Sarita and husband Darryl, Richard, Andrea and husband Johnny, Fernando and companion Amanda and Holly and husband Jerome; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a devotional service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. also in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial to follow at the Cordova Presbyterian Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Joaquin and Darrell Trujillo, Jordan Trujillo, Aaron Gonzales, Fernando Romero and Jerome Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers named are, Austin and Ambrose Dominguez, Alandra Lopez, Cloie Jaramillo and Devine Gonzales. The Romero family has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
