CARMELA F. DEVARGAS, 34, a resident of Servilleta, passed away suddenly of an onset illness on Saturday, November 9, 2019. She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Varela; brother, Antonio DeVargas; maternal grandparents, Willie and Josie Varela, paternal grandparents, Tony and Louise DeVargas; and close first cousin, Adam J. Lujan. Carmela attended Pecos schools and Mesa Vista for a short time. She attended Culinary Arts at Santa Fe Community College. She was deeply loved and never to be forgotten. Carmela is survived by her son, Andres DeVargas of Servilleta, daughter, Maria Tanuz of Pecos; father, Antonio Isaac DeVargas of Servilleta; 3 sisters, Elisa DeVargas of Pecos, Denise Rueda (Polo) of Albuquerque, and Stephanie DeVargas of Albuquerque, brother, Eusebio DeVargas of Servilleta; step-brother, Julian Trujillo of Servilleta, Adam Trujillo of Espanola, and Ramon “Monie” Trujillo (Sara) of Chamita and numerous nieces, nephews, many cousins, aunts, uncles and cherished friends. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos, with a burial to follow at the Pecos Catholic Cemetery. The family of Carmela F. DeVargas has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
