Brian J. Koenecke, 54, a resident of Chama, New Mexico, formerly of Delano, Minnesota, born August 14, 1960, stepped away from the pain of his cancer at Presbyterian Hospital, Espanola, New Mexico on Saturday, February 28, 2015. He was cared for by the hospital staff, Amber Care Hospice, and close friend, Anita Stark and Brian Palmer. Brian is survived by his parents, Burton and Virginia Koenecke; brothers, Brad (Kathy) Koenecke and Greg (Lisa) Koenecke; nieces and nephews. Brian has many friends in the Chama community who are an important part of his extended family. Their continued support helped ease the distress of his cancer diagnosis. Brian was a skilled woodworker. A man who loved to work. Nothing made him happier than a creative project and working with friends. \r\nFuneral services will be held in his home town, Delano, MN, surrounded by his family, but his heart will always remain in New Mexico.\r\nA celebration of his life will be held in Chama at a later date.
