Brian Gallegos, a resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico went to be with our Lord on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the age of 50. Brian was born on March 7, 1973, in Los Ojos, New Mexico to Vicente and Rose Gallegos. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was called home to the Lord on September 2, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his father Vicente Gallegos, his eldest brother Vince Gallegos, his youngest brother Jamein “Jay” Gallegos, Aunt Dorothy Gallegos, and Aunt Reyes Martinez.

Brian is survived by his loving wife of over 20 years Charlotte Martinez-Gallegos of Santa Fe, daughter Alexis Benavidez, husband Anthony, and grandsons Josiah and Ezekial of Rio Rancho, and son Hunter Gallegos of Santa Fe. He is also survived by his beloved mother Rose Gallegos and loving sister Maxine Carrillo (Donny) of Chama, brother Mark Gallegos (Erica) of Los Alamos, brother Chris Gallegos (Jennifer) of Chama, sister-in-law Breon Rumage of Colorado Springs, loving mother-in-law and father-in-law Eva and Richard Leyba of Albuquerque, sister-in-law Veronica Leyba (Rick) of Albuquerque, brother-in-law Michael Sandoval of Canjilon, brother-in-law Oliver Martinez of Albuquerque, and brother-in-law Storm McKague of Ocean Park, Washington. He is also survived by nieces and nephews Letisha Carillo (companion Claudio), Donald Carrillo (Cadie), Andrea Martinez (Jimmy), Shawna Gallegos (Jake), Michayla and Kaylie Whisler, Cory and Kyle Gallegos, Vicente, Diego, and Bella Gallegos, Eugene, Ashley, and Brianna Sandoval, and Taylor Leyba. He is also survived by his Godson Vincent Sisneros of Albuquerque, God Daughter Shaylyn Ulibarri of Bloomfield, Godson Zachary Gurule of Canjilon, and his best friend, compadre, pardino of marriage Juan Jose Martinez (companion Afften) of Tierra Amarilla. Brian also had many aunts, uncles, great-nieces, and great-nephews, colleagues, and friends. 

Brian had many passions in life and loved his family dearly. He loved hunting, fishing, guiding hunts, camping and watching his daughter and son play sports. He was a very talented hunting guide for many years and built many lasting friendships along the way. He took pride in playing softball with his daughter and teaching his son to hunt. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his family and friends in Chama and Canjilon. He was a Veteran who served in the U.S. Navy and was a proud supporter of those who served in the armed forces. Brian was a great friend and was always willing to give a helping hand whenever needed. He will be missed dearly by many.

Serving as pallbearers are Vincent Sisneros, Zachary Gurule, Anthony Benavidez, Cory Gallegos, Juan Jose Martinez, and Donald Carrillo. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Josiah Benavidez, Ezekial Benavidez, Shaylyn Ulibarri, Letisha Carrillo, Andrea Martinez, and J.J. Gallegos.

A public visitation will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola on Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Services will be held at San Jose Catholic Church in Los Ojos, New Mexico on Saturday, September 9, 2023.  A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am and funeral mass will follow at 11:00 am. Brian will be buried at the Los Ojos Cemetery following the funeral mass. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Presbyterian Hospital in Santa Fe, Deacon Donald Martinez, and the many friends and family for the outpouring of love, sympathy, and support during this difficult time.
