Benjie Martinez

Benjie Martinez, a resident of Santa Cruz, originally of Chimayo passed away on November 21, 2022.  

Benjie is preceded in death by his father Ben Martinez; maternal grandparents Carmen and Cora Romero; paternal grandmother Lucy Garcia Martinez; maternal great grandparents Deserio and Juanita Romero; brothers Jimmy Romero and Jeffrey Martinez; nephews Jimmito Romero, mother-in- law Mabel Pacheco; brother in laws Harvey, Marvin, Ricky and Elmer Pacheco, sister in laws Patsy Dixon and Desiree Pacheco

Benjie loved to be outdoors, camping, fishing, going for wood, spending time with his family especially his son Kevin, fixing cars and cruising in his lowriders on Sundays especially with his son Kevin.  Benjie will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Benjie is survived by his companion Beverly Pacheco; son Kevin Pacheco, mother Helen R. Martinez; brother Gene Martinez (Nancy); sister Shirley Martinez (Curtis); god daughter Chantel Martinez; aunt Geraldine Romero (Sonny); uncles Medardo Romero (Bonnie), Ralph Martinez (Janet), Jerry Martinez (Cecilia), and Henry Romero (Theresa); father-in-law Arquin Pacheco; nephews Andru Abeyta (Angelica), Fabian Martinez ( Marissa), Noel Romero and Jerome Romero; nieces Chantel Martinez, Adriana Abeyta, and Raquel Martinez; close cousins Sonny Romero, Alvaro Romero (Julia), Pablo Rodriguez (Rebecca); Johnny Romero (Maryann), Caroline Romero, Anthony Romero and numerous other relatives from Colorado.

Public Visitation will take place on Thursday December 1, 2022, at 6:00 pm, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home and Crematory. A mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church in Chimayo.  Burial will follow at Nuestra Senora de Camel Cemetery in Chimayo.
