Benicio Serrano, age 77, a resident of McCurdy, and lifetime resident of Cañones, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Fidelia Serrano and second wife, Mary Serrano; parents, Aquilino and Raquel Serrano and reared by Patrocinia Serrano; in-laws, Jose Pedro and Manuelita Velasquez; brother, Antonio Serrano; grandchildren, Walter Serrano, Andrea Vigil, and Rhonda Gutierrez; son-in-law, Anthony Gutierrez. Benicio is survived by his children, Dorothy Serrano, Benicio Jr. (Angie), Ronnie Serrano, Evelyn Gutierrez, Fidel, (Prescilla) and Graciola Serrano, Gabriel and Josiah (Corky) Serrano; brothers and sisters, Viola Morfin, Adonais Serrano, Aquilino (Yvonne), Gene (Debbie), Marylou Boies (Joe), Delmiria Fernandez (Robert), Inez Gallegos (Eppie); sister-in-law, Lucy Valdez; special aunts, Dorothy Sisneros (Leo), Eugenia Martinez; God- children, Lillian Villalobos, Raquel Torres, Chris Martinez, Leroy Gonzales, Marcelino Sandoval and Mark Anthony Sandoval; grandchildren, Thomas and Daniel, Vigil, Joseph Serrano, Ronnie, Nichole & Willie Serrano, Mathew & Michael Garcia, Rebecca and Jazmyn Gutierrez, Allaya Chacon, Amanda, Melissa & Fidel Jr. Serrano, Larissa Mendoza, Brandon Serrano and Antoinette Gutierrez; 15 great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; very special friends, Joe Garcia, Jeremiah Martinez, Eusebio & Rita Arellano, Pedro & Ramona Herrera, Beatrice Gonzales and Bob & Flora Trujillo. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a burial to follow at the Canoñes Community Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers; Thomas and Daniel Vigil, Joseph Serrano, Ronnie and Willie Ben Serrano, Matthew & Michael Garcia, Fidel Serrano, Jr. and Brandon Serrano.
