Belen Garcia Alanis, 85 years old, a resident of Downey CA and formerly of Cañones was called home to the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2026. \She was born in Abiquiu, NM, on June 26, 1941. 

Belen was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends, also when she visited her Northern New Mexico roots. She loved calling her family every day. She enjoyed praying her Rosary daily and religiously attended Mass every Sunday. She had a 35 year career as a nurse and was employed with Kaiser Permanante, Downey CA. Following retirement she enjoyed visiting her second home in Durango, Mexico where she passed with her loving husband at her side.

Belen was preceded in death by parents Isabel and Genoveva Garcia; paternal grandparents Fiñiano and Cristerna Garcia; maternal grandparents, Vidal and Delfina Velasquez. Sons, Evedardo Jr. and Patrick Montoya; grandson Adam Montoya and mother Naida Serrano; father of her sons, Evedardo Montoya; siblings, Delfinita Garcia who passed away as an infant, Eligio Garcia, Cristerna Salazar (Benny), Alfredo Garcia (Norma), Elipio Garcia (Antonia), Mizel Garcia, Theresa Chacon, and sister-in-law Teodorita Garcia; father-in-law Jesus; mother-in-law, Pilar, brothers-in-law, Miguel, Roque, and Armando (Maria del Refugio).

Belen is survived by husband Alfredo Alanis; son, Joseph (Joe b.) Montoya and wife Bonnie. Grandsons, Bryan, (Krista) and great-grandson Jonathan. Isaac (Samantha) and great grandsons Zachariah and Vincent. Francesca (Paula), Patrick (Jennifer) and great grandson Kryee; siblings, Filimon Garcia, Fiñiano Garcia (Theresa), sisters-in-law Nancy and Imelda Garcia, Maria Luisa (Pedro), Emilia (Irineo), brothers-in-law Johnny Chacon and Juan Alanis (Socorro) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved and loved her dearly.

A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be recited on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 10:00 am at San Miguel Catholic Church in Canones, NM. Burial to follow at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery in Cañones, NM. 

Serving the family as Pallbearers are Bryan, Isaac, Francesca and Patrick Montoya. 

Honorary Pallbearers are her great grandchildren.
