Obituary

Batrice I. Vigil, 66, of Chimayo, NM, born November 9, 1959, passed away on February 28, 2026.

Batrice was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Vigil, sons Antiono and Pablo Vigil, father Lennis “Skip” Taylor, brothers Jerry Wayne and Michael Ray, paternal grandparents Clyde and Flossie May Taylor, maternal grandparents Paul and Ernistine Olivas, and God Father Tony Lujan.

Batrice is survived by her mother Mary Taylor, brother Adrian, granddaughter Tatyana Vigil, Aunt Rose Lujan, close cousin who she considered a sister Bernie Quintana, Uncle Jerry Taylor and many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who she considered her family.

Batrice is also lovingly remembered by Angelica Martinez, whom she helped raise and loved as if she were her own. She shared a special bond with her dear friends Melissa Deaguero and Elias Lovato, and she leaves behind her beloved dogs Lucky and Charlie Girl.

Batrice was known for her extraordinary heart and genuine kindness. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her home was always open to anyone in need—whether someone was going through a difficult time, needed a listening ear, or simply needed a place to feel safe and supported. Batrice gave freely of her time, compassion, and love, never hesitating to help those around her. The warmth she shared and the generosity she showed left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A Mass will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Chimayo, NM. Burial will follow at El Potrero Cemetery in Chimayo, NM.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Angelica Martinez, Melissa Deaguero, Elias Lovato and Jesse Moya.
