Aurelia S. Cordova, known as (Lela) by her family, age 93, from La Mesilla, NM. Passed away on February 10, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in the home where she shared with her daughter Elizabeth Lucero.

Aurelia was born on November 10, 1930, in San Juan Mimbres, NM. 

 

Aurelia is preceded in death with her husband Severo “Sam” Cordova in heaven, and with her daughter Catherine, her four brothers, Robert, Gabriel, Joe & Manuel and her three sisters, Clara, Clorie & Lupe, her brother-in-law Horace Cordova and her parents Jose and Anastacia Salaiz and with her grandson’s, David Garcia and Joshua Lucero.

 

Aurelia is survived by her four children, Gloria, Natalie, Leroy Corrine and Elizabeth. Aurelia has been blessed with twenty grandchildren, forty-six great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren

 

She met and married her soulmate Severo M Cordova in Mimbres NM, on October 26, 1950. They purchased a home and opened a Copper Rose Bar that they owned for seven years in Mimbres, NM.  They moved to Albuquerque in 1962 in a home where she was an amazing housewife, while raising her children. She then got a job working at Levi’s Clothing store, after a few years she then worked at Holiday Inn for many years. In 1981 they moved to Los Alamos, where she worked at Sombrillo nursing home, along with her daughter Elizabeth Lucero. 

In 2006, she then worked at Victory Faith Christian School in Espanola NM, where she would read to children and was a lovely foster grandparent. 


Aurelia loved being surrounded by her family, she loved gardening, flowers, birds and bingo. She also loved to crochet and made many blankets for her grandchildren. Aurelia loved to travel and go fishing with her husband, they had a van where they would travel and would go to many beautiful places in. 

Aurelia was a beautiful soul; she impacted many people in her life, and she will be greatly missed by her family.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM.  Burial will follow at 1:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
