Arturo - Age 70 - Dixon - Mascarenas

Arturo Alberto Mascareñas – Age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 21, 2011 following a sudden illness. He retired from Los Alamos Public Schools after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce and infant daughter, Brenda; his parents: Alberto and Amanda Mascareñas; mother-in-law, Octavania Armijo; brothers: Lee Mascareñas and wife Dora and Leroy Mascareñas. Arturo is survived by his wife of 50 years, Teresa of Dixon; Children: Wayne, Sharon and Dinah Mascareñas of Dixon, Jeff Espinoza of Española; his beloved granddaughter who he raised as his own, Alicia Mascareñas of Dixon; granddaughter, Kayla Espinoza of Española; three sisters and two brothers: Dila Sanchez and late husband Alfonso of Dixon, Edna Espinoza and husband Tony of Española; Esther Romero and husband Nelson of Española, Roger Mascareñas and wife Helen of Layton, UT, Alfonso Mascareñas and wife Mary of Dixon; sister-in-law, Pauline Mascareñas of Taos; very close brother and sister-in-law: Joe and Vicky Cordova of Chamisal. Arturo dedicated a great part of his life to helping raise many of his nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. His love and advice was greatly appreciated by all who had the opportunity to know him. Arturo will be carried to his final resting place by his granddaughter, Alicia Mascareñas. A devotional service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Dixon. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Dixon with burial to follow at Montecito 7th Day Adventist Cemetery in Dixon with the following serving as honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughter, Kayla Espinoza and brothers-in-law: Tony Espinoza, Joe Cordova and Nelson Romero.
