ANTONIO (TONY) B. HERRERA, 60, a resident of Riverside, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was preceded in death by his son Arsenio (AJ) Herrera, his parents Johnny C. and Amada Herrera, grandparents, Antonio and Eduvigen Quintana, Rafael and Ramoncita Herrera; sister JoAnn Herrera, brothers Carlos and Johnny C. Herrera Jr, brothers-in-law Eddie Atencio and Jerry Maestas, sisters-in-law Elvira and Erlinda Herrera, nephew Johnny C. Herrera III, great nephews Alex Romero and Xavior Martinez, baptismal Godfather Sonny Green, Uncles Joe, Johnny, and Antonio (Chato) Quintana (partner in crime), Ben Martinez, Leo, Isi, and Charlie Herrera, Aunts Juanita Valdez and Mela, cousin who was like a brother Roland Quintana, and his companion Melissa Martinez.
Tony is survived by his children Antonio Herrera and Alicia Mascarenas, his grandchildren Jeremiah and Alexandrea Herrera, his beloved dogs Chica Girl and Spot Boy, brothers and sisters Leroy Herrera, Helen Atencio, Lily (Andy) Garcia, Eva (Leroy) Medina, Judy Maestas, Michael Herrera, Cathy Herrera, Arturo (Norma) Herrera and Marietta (Teofilo) Bencomo, special nieces and nephews Andy Jr. (Wendy) Garcia, Sandra (Brat), Jessica (Manuel) and Jaslyn Maestas, special great nephews Mikey and Daniel (Gordo) Espiricueta, Kaiden (Boy) Maestas-Chavez, Troy (Indio) Naranjo, Dominic Maestas, and Amarante (Vato Loco) Jaramillo, and many other nieces, nephews, great, and great-great, Great Aunt Toni Valencia; aunts and uncles Alice Martinez (Godmother), Nora Quintana, Jimmy (Viola) Quintana, Alfredo Roybal and Martha Herrera, baptismal Godmother Betty Green Martinez, God daughter/niece Nicole (Nicky) Herrera, cousin like a brother, Paul Quintana. His best friends who were brothers to him Lucas Cordova, Andrew Vigil, Robert DeAguero, Joseph (Big Joe) Abeyta, Dwight Herrera, Ralph Martinez, and many other relatives and friends.
Tony leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength. He was a devoted family man, a cherished friend, hard worker, and someone who believed deeply in showing up for others. Tony held many different jobs such as construction, plumbing, welding, mechanics, and ranching. You can say he was a jack of all trades. Although his health slowed him down in the last few years, he still helped anyone that would ask for his help or advice on how to do or fix things. Tony loved being outdoors, especially in the mountains hunting, fishing, camping, or just cruising. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Rosary will be prayed on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:30 am, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:30 am, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
