Anselmo Gallegos, 79, born April 9, 1947, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Anselmo was a man of humor, kindness, and dedication to his family.

His sisters, Deluvina Archuleta, Bersabe Martinez, Ayola Ocana, Magdalena Chavez, and Olympia Vasquez, whom he now joins in eternal rest.
Anselmo is survived by his children: Lucas Gallegos (Carmen) of Canon Plaza, Sandra Garcia (Leonard) of Vallecitos, and Felipe Gallegos (Nicole) from Alcalde. He was a proud grandfather to Erik Garcia; Lucas III, Tomas, and Diego Gallegos; as well as Aubreyanna, Anjolie, Brody, Brayden, and Brooklynn Gallegos. He is survived also by his daughter-in-law Crystal Voight (Carlos). His grandchildren were his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Anselmo will be remembered for his kind heart and sense of humor. He was a man of quiet strength and endurance. He lived his life close to the mountains and the animals that inhabit it. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and truly enjoyed the mountains. He found peace in his rides up to Valle de Los Caballos where he had his cabin. He was a skilled horseman who understood the bond between rider and animal and was an excellent horse trainer to include wild mustangs. Whether building, fixing, or crafting, he worked with his hands in a way that revealed both his talent and his character, steady, capable and always ready to help anyone in need. Anselmo was one of the finest shortstops to ever play in the local Poor Man’s League. Recognized for his sharp instincts and quickness. He was a joy to watch and will be remembered for the skill he brought to every game. His life was shaped by the outdoors, by hard work and by his appreciation for simple, meaningful moments that define a life well lived.
His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, the stories shared, and the countless lives he touched.
