Anita R. Martinez, 82, a resident of Cordova, NM, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2022 after a long battle with different health issues.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Jeremias and Celida Romero, 4 brothers Orlando, Julian, Tobias and Philip Romero, two brother in laws that she was very close to, Amador “Bubbles” Martinez and Eddie Chacon. Two sisters in law, Celonires Montoya and Jeanette Leyba.

Twenty years ago she lost her beloved husband of 43 years, Salomon Martinez, Two infant sons, One infant daughter “Betty” and her precious baby boy Ricky “Kiki” Martinez.

Anita is survived by her children Durine and Ricky Aguilar, Julie and Ray Sandoval, her son “Su Consentido” Don Martinez. Anita also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jamaica Aguilar (John), Reina Sandoval (Jerome), Savannah Aguilar (Anjel), RayBen “Wedo” Sandoval, and Ricky Martinez Jr., eight great grandchildren John, Jesus and Jordan Gutierrez, Jaiden Sandoval, Kianalia Martinez, and Sarai’, Anahi’ and Azali’ Ortiz, her three sisters Lydia Baca (Cornelio), Pamie Chacon and Cecilia Pacheco (Harold) her brother Herman Romero, One brother in law Leroy Leyba and two sister in laws Betty Romero and Emiliana Lopez, and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

Mom was a wonderful wife and mother, and words cannot express the loss we are all feeling right now. She was full of life. She loved to dance. She was a jokester and a prankster, but most of all she was a Christian that believed and had faith in our Lord Jesus Christ… And we are certain she is in His loving arms with Dad and Ricky.

Serving as Pallbearers are her grandsons John Sr., John Jr., Jesus, Jordan Gutierrez, Rayben "Wedo" Sandoval, and Anjel Ortiz, and Jaiden Sandoval.

Honorary Pallbearers are all of her grand-daughters and great grand-daughters.

A Celebration of life Memorial will be held on December 29, 2022 at 7:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. She will be laid to rest on December 30, 2022 with a Service at the Truchas Bible Baptist Church at 11:00 am with the Burial to follow at Cordova Catholic Cemetery in Cordova, New Mexico.
