COURTESY ANNOUNCEMENT 

Anita C. Esquibel a resident of San Pedro, NM departed from this life unexpectedly on Saturday 18 April 2026 surrounded by family members after a brief illness. Anita was a loving mother, sister and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe A. Esquibel and Selida Quintana-Esquibel.

Anita is survived by her daughter Nina Peterson, granddaughter Athena Lujan, son Andrew Peterson, sister Iola Esquibel, nephew Louis Vogel and sister Mary Esquibel.

She loved watching sports with loved ones and friends. She enjoyed the tostadas from Stop and Eat.

A celebration of her life will be held at Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz, NM on Tuesday 19 May 2026. Rosary begins at 10:30 am followed by mass at 11:00 am.

Internment will be a private service.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me for I’m Free. I’m following the path God has laid, you see, I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not say another day to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, the fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things II too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full. I’ve savored much, good friends, good times and loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don’t lengthen it now with undo grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me – He set me free.
