Anita - Age 80 - Española - Torres

ANITA M. TORRES, 80, a resident of Española, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 following a sudden illness. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Torres; sons, Joey and Vincent Torres; granddaughter, Theresa Cournoyer; brothers, Father Vito and Gilbert C’de Baca. Anita was a retired teacher for the Española Public School District. She taught at Holy Cross Catholic School in Santa Cruz and Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. She was presently active with the Senior Olympics and was looking forward to the summer games next week. Mrs. Torres is survived by her husband, Jeremias “Jerry” Torres of Española; son, Jerry Torres and companion Michelle of Albuquerque; daughter, Catherine “Tiny” Cournoyer and husband Michael of White Rock; brothers and sisters, Consuelo C’de Baca and Zita Gonzales both of Albuquerque, Peggy Tixier of Fort Morgan, CO and Armando C’de Baca and wife Agnes of Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and numerous other loving nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law and other loved relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. also at La Igleisa de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Mrs. Torres preference would have been to pay Masses for her. The family of Anita M. Torres has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
