Amarante Casias

Amarante Arturo Casias, 73, of Tierra Amarilla, died Friday June 17, 2022 unexpectedly. He was a Navy Corpsman of the Vietnam War. Due to serving his country he became an advocate for disabled Veterans. A retired Iron Worker of 31 years and in his later years, became a legendary radio DJ “El Norteno” supporter of artists/bands of New Mexico music. Family and friends from all around loved his “world famous” ribs.
Preceded in death by his mother Maria M. Pacheco of Tierra Amarilla, wife Karen Lee of Tierra Amarilla, granddaughter Kelly Ann of Rio Rancho, grandson Keaton of West Fargo. Survived by wife Maria Canez of Tierra Amarilla, daughters Alyssa Marie Rico and Maria Estella Canez of Tucson, son and daughter James Casias (Kristen) of West Fargo, Tina Marie Casias of Rio Rancho, brothers and sisters Theresa Jaramillo (Michael) of Denver, Ken Pacheco (Caroyl) of Pueblo, Romain Pacheco of Albuquerque and Noe Pacheco Jr (Willa) of Albuquerque, madrina Viola Atencio of Tierra Amarilla, grandchildren Brooklyn Leivas, Brianna Casias, Cooper Nelson, Eliciano Rico and many nieces and nephews.
Friday, July 15, 2022, a rosary to be recited at 10:00am at San Jose Parish in Los Ojos, NM with a mass at 11:00am. Reception
