Alita M. Roach, 82, a resident of White Rock passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012. She was born on October 31, 1929 in St. Louis Missouri. Alita was the only daughter of Marie Krueger and Aloysius Wunderle, she was affectionately referred to as “Snooze” by her father who thought she slept too much. At the age of 18, she began her working career as a lingerie buyer for Famous Barr. Alita married Frederick “Freddie” Roach on December 31, 1954 and they began their home in Los Alamos. On May 15, 1955 Alita began working for Los Alamos National Laboratory and retired in 2004. Alita enjoyed her role at LANL and was committed to LANL’s administrative efficiencies. Alita was preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband, Freddie. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Pearson; son, William Roach and wife Theresa; grandchildren: Rebecca and Ryan Pearson, Jennifer Roach and William Daniel Roach, Jr. along with his wife Sarah; 2 beautiful great-granddaughters, Jayden and Arden Roach; numerous close friends. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with burial to follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery.
