Alice D. Torrez, 80, was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father on August 2, 2026. She was truly the best mother anyone could ever ask for. Alice lit up every room she entered with her radiant smile and possessed the kindest, most generous heart always ready to help anyone in need and willing to give everything she had to those she loved. Known for having the absolute best sense of humor, her jokes brought endless laughter to those around her. Her cooking was the absolute best especially her tortillas and bread; She was dearly loved, and was her daughter Corine’s entire world.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jose A. Torrez; her infant daughters, Angela and Diana Torrez; her sons, Ricky and Orlando Torrez; her parents, Juan Antonio and Rosalia Deaguero; her brothers, Juan, Randy, Carlos, and Nelson Deaguero; her sister, Mary Ann Deaguero; and her father- and mother-in-law, Remijio and Adelia Torrez.

Alice is survived by her son, Robert Torrez (wife Bonnie); her daughter, Linda Padilla; her favorite daughter, Corine Torrez (fiancé Rudy Bustos) and her favorite grandson and granddaughter whom she raised as her own, Jason Torrez (girlfriend Angel Arellano). Kysha Lujan (boyfriend Damion Gariss), as well as her granddaughters Lorraine Sandoval (husband Julian), Jeannette Montano (husband Juan), Audrey Padilla (husband Ambrose), Denise Padilla, Selena Moya, Tiffany Torrez, Lorraine Torrez, Norraine Torrez, and Justine Torrez, along with many other cherished great grandchildren, relatives and friends.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2026, a Public Viewing will  be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM, at 4:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm.

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, a Public Viewing will be held at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM, at 5:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 6:00 pm.

On Friday, September 4, 2026, Mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Chimayo, NM, at 10:00 am.  Burial to follow at the Cordova Catholic Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Torrez, Rudy Bustos, Julian Sandoval, Damion Gariss, Ambrose Ortiz, and Josiah Montano.
