Alice V Gallegos went to be with our lord Jesus Christ on July 3, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones in her Santa Cruz, NM, home. Alice was born on April 14, 1935, to Manuel and Carmelita Vigil and lived her life just a few feet from where she was raised and where her and Robert raised their three children Dennis, Amanda, and Donald.

Alice was a devoted Catholic and lifelong member of Las Carmelita’s, La Sangria Family De Santa Cruz, and Parishioner at Santa Cruz De La Canada. Alice was a well known for her Daycare “Tiny Tots” of which she and Robert ran for over 20 years. She then retired as a Walmart Greeter after 9 years. Prior to ‘Tiny Tots’ Alice was a CCD and Substitute teacher.

Alice was preceded by her parents Manuel and Carmelita Vigil, her Husband of 68 years Robert, Granddaughter Baby Denette Gallegos, Grandsons Ivan and James Garcia, Dennis Gallegos Jr. Brother’s Manual Jr., Emilio, Sam, and Tony Vigil. Sisters Luisita King, Mary Montoya, and Rose Martinez. 

She is survived by her son Dennis (Angela) Gallegos of La Mesilla, daughter Amanda Garcia of Hernandez, son Donald (Nina) Gallegos of Scottsdale AZ. Grandsons Jairus and Jorinthian Gallegos, granddaughters Denielle and Jaia Gallegos, Great Grandson Damian Gallegos. Brother Jose (Ester) Vigil and,100 yr old Sister Isabel Torres. Sisters in law Olympia Vigil, Rosella Martinez, and Regina Archuleta. Special Niece Amy King along with many other beloved nieces and nephews. Alice never forgot her Best Friend Bertha Sanchez, special Cousin Perscilla Martinez, and her sisters in Christ from Las Carmelita’s.

Special thanks to her beautiful caregivers who lovingly cared for her in her final months: niece Carmelita Borrego, Jessica Vigil, nieces Yolly and Louella, along with Grace, and Elsa. As well as friend and hairdresser Mary Herrera.

A Public Viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 5:00 pm, with Rosary starting at 6:00 pm at DeVargas Funeral Home in Espanola, NM. 

Mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada in Santa Cruz, NM. Interment will be at a later date at the National Cemetery in Santa Fewith her beloved Robert.
