Albert Martinez

On Sunday, March 5, 2023, Albert Martin Martinez, passed away at the age of 48, after an unexpected and brief illness.  Albert was born in Tucson, Arizona on March 27, 1974, to Martin and Florence Martinez.  Albert was very close to his family and especially adored his beautiful wife, Germel, who equally spoiled and adored her devoted “Handsome”.

Albert attended Capital High School, in Santa Fe, New Mexico from 1989 - 1992 and attended Northern New Mexico College where he concentrated his studies in Electronics and Computer Science.  Albert acquired his CompTIA Network Plus, A Plus and Security Plus Certification as he pursued his CS career. Albert began his work experience at Rodey Law Firm in Albuquerque and then Santa Fe, New Mexico where he worked for over a decade.  He was the Manager/Lead Technician at SatView Broad band before transferring his expertise to Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs where he served as the IT Technician until its closure due to the pandemic.

Albert loved the outdoors where he spent many years hiking, camping and hunting with his father, Martin, and brother, Ricardo.  He loved spending time with his wife and children playing board games, painting, and water balloon fighting and doing handstands.  Albert was a guitar enthusiast, an avid photographer, and reader of history books and technical manuals.  Albert was notorious for his sense of humor and quick wit, and managed to keep his loved ones in good spirits to the very end of his journey.

Albert is preceded in death by his dear brother Ricardo M. Martinez, Maternal grandparents Alberto C. and Eloisa Rodriguez, grandfather Emijirio Martinez, paternal grandparents Dolores and Samuel Martinez; aunt, Evelyn Weber; uncles, Gary Weber, Delfin  E. Martinez, Dennis Salazar and Eppie Tapia; cousins, Kelly Ann Martinez, and Delfin  P. Martinez.

Albert is survived by his Loving wife, Germel D. Martinez; children Zilthai, Zerahiah, and Nissi Segovia of Espanola; and was a devoted son to his father, Martin M. Martinez; mother, Florence and Michael Martinez, all of Espanola; sister, Camille Martinez and partner, Michael Archuleta of Albuquerque, nephew and niece; Aaron and Zoe, of Albuquerque, siblings, Veronica and Leonard Martinez and children, of Espanola and, Miguel and Shantelle Martinez and children, of Rio Rancho.

Other family members Albert left behind are aunts and uncles, Laura Montoya and husband Marcelo, of Albuquerque, Lee Rodriguez and wife Lori, of Minnesota,  Margaret Tapia, Rosalie Lovato and husband Albert, Sandra Martinez and husband Patrick, David Rodriguez and wife Lorraine, Anthony Rodriguez and wife Tamara, Liza Przyllas, Umelia Martinez, Kathy and Albert Mondragon, and Doris Padilla, all of Espanola.  

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Jasmine Rae Cain and Jordan of Alcalde, grandparent-in-laws Clarabelle Trujillo of Espanola and Harold and Maria Mascarenas of El Guique.

We were blessed to have Albert and will cherish our memories forever.  We look forward to the time when we can be with him again.

Public viewing will be at 12:30 pm at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, NM, with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2023.  Burial will take place at a later date.
