Adelia D. Valdez

Adelia D. Valdez, 101 years old of Alcalde, NM passed away on November 19, 2022.  She was born in La Villita to Pedro and Melicia Diaz on April 11. 1921.  She was the eldest of the community of Alcalde.  She was also the second oldest of five brother’s and sister’s, and the only one living.

She is preceded in death by her husband Juan M. Valdez, her son Delano Valdez, brother’s Pete and Abel Diaz, sister’s Lugardita and Benita Martinez, grandson Ray Valdez, Ernest and Sammy Salazar, great-grandchildren Adrian and Amanda Valdez.

She is survived by her daughter who took very good care of her till the end Mabel Valdez; two other daughters Lydia Atencio and Claudina Salazar (Andrew); son’s Richard Valdez (Ruby), Norman Valdez (Pauline) and Marvin Valdez (Patsy). son in law Isaac Atencio. She is also survived by a special granddaughter who would visit her everyday and loved very much, Donna Padilla.  Many, many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and many friends. 

Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, NM.  Burial to follow at La Villita Cemetery in Alcalde, NM. 

With the following serving as Pallbearer’s Eppie Martinez Jr., Josh Martinez, Carlos Abeyta, Andrew Sanchez, Diego Padilla and Isaac Atencio.  Honorary Pallbearer’s are all grandchildren, great-grand children and great-great grandchildren

The family would like to thank Compasses Hospice and Ambercare Hospice Staff for caring for our precious Adelia and everyone else who helped with food and donations, DeVargas Funeral Home for taking such good care of her, to the Hermanos who prayed a beautiful rosary, to Father Benny for a wonderful mass.
