ABRAN SERRANO, 96, a resident of Medanales, passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Monday, March 18, 2019, he was one month shy of his 97th birthday. Abran was preceded in death by his parents, Abilino and Benita Serrano; his brothers Cipriano (Delfina), Salomon (Tiofila), Eliazar (Sorida), Moises (Ema), his sister, Delfinia Archuleta (Bernie) and brothers, Abel (Anita) & Ramon (Lydia); daughter, Isadora Florez, son, Eloy Serrano; his in-laws, Eusebio & Agueda Martinez, their children Gertrudes & Salomon Manzanares, Ferdinando & Josefina Martinez, Epifinia & Frank Archuleta, Isidoro Martinez, Luisa & Amado Garcia and Florida Martinez.
Abran and Georgia would have celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in June. Abran was drafted in the US Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. He was a proud veteran. Abran met his wife, Georgia Martinez, in Canones and they married in 1946. Abran was a father of 12 children, Benita Lucero, Isadora Florez (Alonzo), Rita, Rick (Georgette), Martha Rogers (Kerry), Eloy, Patricia Sichler (Bob), Michael, Abran Jr. (Donna), Clara, Lino (Amy) and Selina (Louie). He also had 32 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren.
Abran retired from Hill Air Force Base in Layton Utah, then moved his family back to New Mexico in 1975. Abran loved to hunt and fish and loved to attend his family’s sporting events when they were young. He enjoyed watching all sports on TV. Abran is survived by his wife Georgia Serrano, her sisters, Cordilia Coronado, Ruby Montoya and brother Secundino Martinez and his wife Jane. Anita Serrano and Lydia Serrano. Many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, followed with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
