Abran Merced García-Valdez, a resident of Nambe, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Vianes Valdez and Charles Misere; Madrina, Elsie Sandoval; and cousin, J.J. Hagewood. He was born to Julian Valdez and Jeanette García on June 3, 1993. After graduating high school, he attended Albuquerque Barber College, and worked as a Barber in the Pojoaque Valley. Abran is survived by his grandmothers, Connie Valdez and Andreita Sandoval-Misere from Nambe; grandparents, Joe and Judy García, from Nambé Pueblo; Padrino, Merced Sandoval; sister, Andrea Baca, brothers, Bevjan Baca, and Jeremy and Julian Valdez, Jr.; his girlfriend, Alicia Quintana; aunts, Donna Martinez, Rosalina Hagewood, Darlina Valdez, Olivia Trujillo, Carmelina Spears, Lavina Maestas and Fatima Woody, uncles, Arnold García, Arthur Martinez, Ray Hagewood, Oliver, Michael, Gerard, Gerome, and Vianes Valdez; nieces, Scarlet, Lovely, and Isabella; nephews, Jaysin, Damien, and Matthew; and many cousins and friends. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nambe, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Nambe, with the following serving as pallbearers Bevjan Baca, Jeremy and Julian Valdez, Jr., Michael, Gerard, and Vianes Valdez.
