JACOB (JAKE) SANDOVAL, 71, a resident of Española and formerly of Cordova, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Elisea Sandoval; sister, Mary Lopez; mother-in-law, Marina Martinez; brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard, George, Modie, JoAnn, Tano, Veronica and Lorraine. Jake was born on August 29, 1946. He enjoyed hunting, riding horses and going to the mountains. He was loved by everyone. Mr. Sandoval is survived by his wife, Mary Sandoval; daughter, Tracey Madrid and husband Walter, Natalee Voight and husband Roger; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Colorado; step-daughter, Joan Medina and husband Arthur; step-granddaughters, AnnaMaria and Marisol; father-in-law, Modesto Martinez; brother, Ben Sandoval and wife Chrissy of Chimayo; sisters, Emily Martinez and husband Benito of Cordova, Carmelita and husband Michael of Chamita, Sandra Valdez and husband George of Nambe; special nieces, Marissa and Melissa Sandoval of Cordova; brothers-in-law, Adelmo Lopez of Chamisal, David and Pauline of El Llano, Michael and Karen of La Puebla, Jerry and Darby of La Mesilla, Leonard and Denise of Chile, Melvin and Jean of Fairview; sisters-in-law, Inez and Edward of Santo Niño, Angela and Jerry of Chimayo, Diane Martinez of Velarde and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated immediately after at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, George Valdez, Benito Martinez, Roudelio Torrez, Lawrence Torrez, Walter Sandoval, Dwayne Sanchez, Leonard Martinez, Jr. and Michael Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. The family of Jacob (Jake) Sandoval has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
