Isaac Romelo Barela, Jr., a resident of Chimayo, unexpectedly went to be in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, July 2, 2017.  Isaac was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Dolores Barela, paternal grandfather, Gilbert Barela; uncles, Dennis, Louie and Ricky Barela; maternal and aunt, Natalie Vasquez-Mirabal.  Isaac loved spending time with his family, and will be greatly missed.  Isaac is survived by his stepfather and mother Raymond and Dawn Romero, father, Isaac Barela; brothers, Isaiah Herrera and Kaleb Romero, sisters, Hannah Herrera, and Shayna Gomez; nephew Romeo Pacheco; maternal grandparents, Ennemias and Enselma Vasquez; uncles, Jeremiah, Nehemiah (Charlene), and Simon (Rachel) Vasquez, uncles, Lawrence, Felix (Michelle), Ted (Clarissa), aunts, Christine (Daniel), and Irene Barela and many other cousins, friends, and extended family. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Devotional Service to be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Chamisal Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are brother, Isaiah Herrera, uncle, Simon Vasquez, cousins, Dennis, Felix Jr., Gilbert and Elias Barela, honorary pallbearers, cousins, Peter Aguilar and Santiago Garcia. The family of Isaac Romelo Barela Jr. has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley. 505-747-7477
