Gregory Maxwell

Gregory L. Maxwell, 70, a resident of Ilfield, New Mexico, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jackie Maxwell; father, Lyle Maxwell; father-in-law, Rubel O. Montoya; and sister Kay Bousman. Greg was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota where he served in the Air Force as a payload master on a C-130. He later moved to New Mexico in 1981. By trade, he was an HVAC Journeyman. Greg loved nature, simplicity and solitude and was a man of his word. Gregory was deeply loved by his family. We couldn’t hold you to make you stay, but we will hold you in our hearts forever. Gregory is survived by his wife, Teresa Montoya-Maxwell of Chile, New Mexico; children, Ruben Gregory Maxwell (Valerie Martinez) of Española, New Mexico, Sara Ashlene Maxwell of Chile, New Mexico, and Christina Maxwell of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchild on the way, our Blueberry, of Española, New Mexico; mother, Rose Mary Julius Maxwell of Phoenix, Arizona; twin brothers, Keith and Kevin Maxwell of Roseville, Minnesota; and sister Carol of Phoenix, Arizona. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. The family of Gregory L. Maxwell has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
