Geraldine Milich

GERALDINE “JERRI” MILICH, 97, a resident of Los Alamos, born in Madison, WI on September 10, 1919, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles P. Milich; parents, Marcus and Ella Togstad; sister, Jo Ellen Hogan and brother, William Togstad. Jerri had a great fondness for the outdoors and the beautiful New Mexico mountains. She was never still for a moment, always ready to go somewhere, whether it was fishing, camping, hiking, going for a scenic drive, bowling or BINGO. One of her most passionate hobbies was working with flowers. She was an active member of the Los Alamos Little Theater and Light Opera Association. She was a very social, loving person that touched many hearts throughout the years. Ms. Milich is survived by her children, Thomas Van Etten of Placitas, Kenneth Van Etten (Linda) of Rio Rancho, Donald Van Etten (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jeanne Holmes of Georgetown, Texas; step-children, Charles Milich, Jr. (Karen) of Longmont, CO, Sally Wright (Dan) of Pecos and Thomas Milich (Arlene) of Española; grandchildren, Nicole Garling (Joseph) of Los Lunas, Claire Connally of Corrales, Erin Martin of Albuquerque, Richard Van Etten of Rio Rancho, Kelly Smith (Cody) of South Jordan, Utah, David Van Etten (Alida) of Pocatello, ID, Melissa Hudiburgh (Brian) of Centennial, CO, Amber Plourde (Paul) of Las Vegas, Nevada, Stephanie Ivie-Harvey (Chad) of Dripping Springs, Texas; 4 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, 8 step great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with a reception to follow at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos with the following serving as pallbearers, Tom, Don, Richard, Brice and David Van Etten and Joe Cruz. The family of Geraldine “Jerri” Milich has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
