Edward Roybal

Edward Roybal, 93, formerly of Peñasco, passed away September 27, 2017 at the Hacienda Nursing Home in Española.  Mr. Roybal was preceded in death by his parents, Filadelfio and Filomena Roybal; sisters, Cloudinia Spare, Lorraine Sandoval; brothers, Floyd and Benjamin. Edward was born September 11, 1924 in Llano de San Juan to Filadelfio and Filimona Roybal. He left the Peñasco area in the early 1950’s to work as a ranch hand and a miner, mostly a ranch hand where he did everything from operating farm machinery to herding sheep. Edward is survived by one sister, Jo Roybal Izay from Albuquerque, and also by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Peñasco with a memorial mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at a later date.
