Eberto Roybal

EBERTO D. ROYBAL, 97, a resident of El Rancho, passed away on Wednesday, October 04, 2017. Eberto was preceded in death by his parents, Cresenciano and Guadalupe Roybal; wife, Elvira Roybal; daughter, Eva Montoya, Ila Roybal; brothers, Medardo Roybal, Tony Roybal, sisters, Theresita Tafoya, and Rosella Ortiz. Eberto was a World War II Veteran in the Pacific Theater.  He worked as a part of the CCC Crew that built Bandelier National Monument. He also worked and retired from the Zia Electrical Power Steam Plant. He loved the outdoors, he enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting, and he enjoyed dancing with his wife and spending time with his family. He was an extremely skilled handyman and woodworker. He was a very intelligent and was a great husband, father, grandfather, Tio and friend. Eberto is survived by his daughter, Lillian J. Roybal Baca; grandchildren, Roderigo Padilla (Michelle“Rosina”), Raquel B. Montoya (Michael), great-grandchildren, Joshua Padilla, Elijah Padilla, Ila Padilla, and Phillip Spencer; siblings, Esther Vigil and Sinfie Ortiz and many other nephews, nieces, cousins and other loved ones.  A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pojoaque, with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Dale Arnink, Gilbert Duran, Mike Childers, Joshua Padilla, Dirck Ortiz and Medardo Roybal Jr. Honorary Pallbearers, Elijah Padilla, Ila Padilla, Phillip Spencer, Michelle “Rosina” Padilla, and Michael Montoya.
