Barbara A. Morgan: Outspoken, adventurous and beloved, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at home, after long health struggles in Embudo, New Mexico on April 27th, 2022. Born February 8, 1949 in El Paso, Texas. As an Air Force brat she lived on Kirtland AFB and in New Mexico on and off since elementary school.
Preceded in death by parents, Walter D. and Anneliese Morgan, grandparents Paul and Teresia Kratt and ex husband Gary Alford.
She is survived by sisters Jean Vance and Annelie Gallea, nephew Matthew Vance, his wife Vanessa Vance and son Christopher; nephew Eric Gallea, his daughter Rebecca Johnson, son Caiden Gallea and daughter Mia Gallea. Her long list of chosen extended family from all over the world includes Candy Uihlein and family, our "brother from another mother" to her care takers Dolly and Candace, the PT folks and Mountain Home Health Family, her personal doctor and the other doctors, nurses and hospital workers who often say she touched their hearts in the first 10 minutes.
She achieved her Masters of Social Work from NM Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM where she was the County Office Manager of Protective Services, along with other jobs with the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department as an MSW, LISW for well over 20 years. She brought many families together through adoptions and Guardianship work along with being an advocate for abused and neglected children, adults and animals; for the environment, education and world peace.
She cherished people and would instantly connect heart to heart with anyone who crossed her path however she did not tolerate those who would do harm. Barbara's soul was full of love and thoughtfulness. She was a true friend to those she chose to be in her life; those in her circle knew her limitless compassion. Her sense of humor was infectious. She traveled extensively around the world. She grew up a child of the 60s and loved the music of that Era. She was a pacifist, who loved the peace symbol and what it stands for. She was a dedicated social worker who loved the children she served and protected. She loved reading, animals, working in her yard and was an expert shopper. She was intelligent, outgoing, stubborn, brave, loved to talk to people, incredibly giving, loving, devoted and a loyal sister and friend. She was a great instructor for how to love and treat the world. In lieu of flowers please donate to Dixon Animal Protection Society or a charity of your choice.
