Richard J. Sanchez, age 72, a lifelong resident of Lyden, NM, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.
Richard loved the outdoors (his garden and the Sierra). Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing but most of all spending time with his sons, grandsons and his Ayannah (Yannie).
Richard is preceded in death by his beloved son, Mark Sanchez, parents, Antonio & Sarita Sanchez, brother, Leandro Sanchez, sister, Tina Vigil, in-laws, Aniceto & Viola Martinez, sister in-laws, Carol & Yvette Martinez and his nephew, Jerome Sanchez.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Rommie Sanchez, sons: Nelson (Pam), Jason (Rhonda), daughter-in-law, Joy Sanchez, daughter Doreen (Martin) Valdez. Grandchildren: Aaron, Brian, Matthew, Victor, Cruz, Autuum & Lucas Sanchez. Mariah (Emiliano), Jenny (Jacob) Katrina (Santiago) Aragon and Josh Valdez. Richard is also survived by his Great-Niece whom he proudly raised as his own daughter, Ayannah (Yannie).
Richard is also survived by siblings, Rose (Tom) Saiz and Leo (Yolanda) Sanchez. In-laws, Ethel Martinez-Diaz, Johnny and Lynda Martinez. Nephews and Nieces, Tommy, Dixie (Jason), Randy (Darla), Jimmy Saiz, Geri, Darlene (Larry), Billy Vigil, Gabriel and Victoria Sanchez, Anita Serrano, Chastity (Albert) Bowie, Reynal, Jaime (Vivian) Martinez and Trisha (Victor). Richard is survived by 5 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A rosary will be recited on Monday, January 20, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be held at 12:45 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers to carry their beloved Grandpa Richard will be all of his Grandsons and Granddaughter.
