Praxedez Martinez, 80, a resident of Ranchitos, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 7, 2018. Praxedez was preceded in death by his infant daughter; mother, Margarita Vigil; step-father, Antonio M. Vigil and sisters, Celestina Maes and Emilia Vigil. Praxedez was born and raised in Canjilon and later in life settled in Española. He was a member of the UA Local 412 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Praxedez is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Roman and David Martinez; granddaughters, Raquel and Juliana; sisters, Celina (Margarito) Martinez and Beatrice (Fermin) Perea; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Gene) Martinez, Livia Olguin and Lonnie Martinez; brother-in-law, Tiburcio Vigil; cousin, Rosalie Bustos; special friend, Leo Olguin as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will take place on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz with a rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. also at Holy Cross Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Canjilon Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Joel Vigil, Dickie Vigil, Emiliano Salazar, Tomas Maes, Johnny Martinez and Leo Olguin. The family of Praxedez Martinez has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
